6-Month Wellness Check-up

Getting comfy on the scales. Of course the diaper were removed for the weigh-in as I wouldn't want to fudge the numbers! :)

Well, I am officially 6 months and 5 days old! Today, Mummy and Daddy brought me into the clinic for my 6-month wellness check-up! I measure 27.5 inches tall and weigh 18 lb 3 oz (75% and 48% percentile with respectively). Dr. Pediatrician said I'm growing and developing at a healthy rate. I couldn't help but notice that she and my parents were discussing the topic of baby food. Ooooh baby food! Little does she know that I'm already a huge fan of solids! Sometimes much to Mummy's embarrassment because I can detect food from "a mile away" and my eyes are capable of quickly darting away from what I was focusing on onto the food (in any shape or form, and whether it's in a bowl, plate or even in a cup) even if it's not intended for me. For some reason, I'm intrigued by all of the stuff that the grown ups gets to eat. I can't wait until I get to try them too! :)

I can rollover from my back onto my tummy from either sides now, but I seldom roll back over from my tummy back onto my back. Mummy has witnessed this momentous occasion, but I rarely repeat it. While on my back (usually while getting my diaper changed), I love to scoot my whole body towards my feet. It's not that I have an itchy back or anything, it's just that I still don't know what else to do with my body. There's an Elmo walker that I chill in at Grandma's and boy am I good at getting from point A to B. For the most part, I can steer the walker pretty well for a 6-month old! The walker is set to the second to highest setting (partly due to my long limbs) and enough for me to plant my two feet firmly on the ground. Mummy and Daddy prefer it this way as they don't want me to walk on my tipsy toes when that day finally arrives.

Daddy holding me after braving 4 shots and an oral injection. 4 shots instead of the standard 3 because I'm old enough for the two-step flu shot. I'll be heading back in a month for part 2 and I'm not looking forward to it! :(

My New High Chair

Mummy and Daddy got me a uber cool trendy looking high chair by Boon, model name Flair. It rolls really well on the surface of the kitchen floor. Not only do I get to eat in my chair, but I also get to chill with Mummy and Daddy when they're busy cooking or cleaning in the kitchen.

I'm already enjoying rice cereals, Gerber Stage 1 and 2 baby food. So far, I'm a big fan of sweet potatoes and squash. Fresh fruit are also very yummy too! Mummy and Daddy are always sharing their fruits with me and they don't seem to mind that I get my face and fingers all sticky. I also loooove to drink H2O! Don't worry, I'm still consuming several 5oz bottles of Mummy's milk everyday, but I sure love the variety of food I'm getting.

Stroller A or B?

Mummy and daddy are shopping around for a spanking new stroller for moi! Which of the two strollers do I look groovy in?

Note: The red stroller is missing some of its accessories.

Standing... (with assistance)

Here I am standing (with Mummy's help). Although I haven't quite mastered the skill of crawling, I think I'll be an eager beaver and skip it and go right onto walking.... :)

Another crib recall...

Now that we're parents, the word "recall" when associated with any baby-related product sets off a red alarm for us. Today, an announcement was made that "Stork Craft Baby Cribs pose suffocation risk" -- more than 500,000 cribs are now being recalled! If you're an avid blog reader of ours, you would recall that our first choice crib was issued a recall just days prior to when we were about to place our order. Our next choice and the crib we ended up purchasing have now joined the ranks of the term that I've coined, "crib recall heaven."

We tried calling the consumer hot-line for Stork Craft baby cribs and to no surprise to anyone, the line was busy...

Poor Hummingbird

On my way into the office this morning, I almost stepped on this little guy. He was sitting in the middle of the pathway in the parking lot. At first I thought he was dead, but he moved a little when I was trying to nudge him off the sidewalk. Poor guy couldn't fly anymore or tuck his wings back in place after stretching them. After unsuccessfully trying to pawn him off for $20 (hey, I need diaper money!), I placed him at the bottom of a tree in the sun.

Update: I just checked on him after lunch, and I'm afraid he's gone up to birdie heaven... :(

Rest in peace...

Happy Birthday, Grandpa!

Come next year, I'll be "big enough" to help Alan and Ethan in blowing out the candles! :)

My New Double Eyelid

Out of the blue, and almost 5 1/2 months since birth -- a double eyelid has emerged on my left eye. Mummy has been waiting for this day for a while now and is praying for the appearance of the other one to "even things out."

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

It's too bad that the lines at the Academy of Sciences were too long today. Nevertheless, I had a fun time sharing this special day with you and Mummy at Golden Gate Park.

Wishing you a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Daddy! I hope this is your "bestest" birthday ever since you got to celebrate it with Mummy AND me! :)

P.S Sorry for looking away from the camera when this picture was taken -- it's just that I find the outside to be very stimulating, especially at the park where there are tons of kids to play with.
